Roachdale Community Garden Project Fund (Non-Endowed)

Allen Family

Year Founded

The Allen Family

Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the fund shall be to support the development and maintenance of the Roachdale Community Garden provided that such programs and contributions are consistent with the exempt purposes and status of the Foundation.

History of Fund
The Roachdale Community Garden is a project initiated in memory of Bob Allen, a lifetime resident and a Roachdale business man over 50 years. The Roachdale Community Garden, a beautifully landscaped garden behind the Roachdale Public Library, was founded by community citizens.

A Roachdale Community Garden Advisory Board was formed to cultivate funding and donors for the development and maintenance of the Roachdale community garden. The ten-member board facilitates fundraising efforts and oversees the design, development, and planting of the garden.

Not only does the Roachdale Community Garden help to beautify the town of Roachdale, but it also serves as a place where patrons, community members, and business people can rest, relax, picnic, and socialize. Additionally, the community garden serves as a mechanism for people to donate a tree, bench, or an engraved brick in honor or memory of a loved one or in celebration of an event.
