Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide income to support the programs of Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana.
History of Fund
James (Jim) Ford Clapp, born in 1937, grew up in Greencastle, Indiana and attended Greencastle High School. Jim contracted polio and spent some time in Riley Hospital. Despite his handicap, Jim graduated from DePauw University and went on to teach at a university in New Mexico.
The Riley Hospital for Children is located in Indianapolis, Indiana and was founded in 1924. According to their mission, the Riley Hospital for children is dedicated to:
Providing leadership in preventive health education, health promotion, child advocacy, parent education/family support, parent effectiveness and mental health.
- Providing comprehensive, state-of-the-art clinical services necessary for the care of seriously and chronically ill children, and those with physical, emotional or other disabilities
- Being accessible, programmatically and financially, to all Hoosier children who would benefit from Riley's services, providing superb education for clinicians who care for children today and in the future
- Conducting state-of-the-art research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of serious medical, surgical, and other disorders of children.
