Endowment for Fraternity and Sorority Philanthropy

Interfraternal Council

Year Founded
2006

Founder
DePauw Interfraternal Council and Panhellenic Council

Purpose of Fund
Each year the Interfraternal Council, Panhellenic Council and other Greek chapters will decide together what charitable cause or causes should be the recipient(s) of a grant(s) from the endowment.

History of Fund
DePauw University’s Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council started the Fraternity and Sorority Philanthropy Endowment with $4,000 in 2006. This endowment creates the opportunity to award grants to charities in Putnam County and for the IFC and Panhellenic Councils to meet each year to jointly discuss philanthropy. DePauw’s Greeks hope to create bonds between the DePauw campus and the Putnam County community, while highlighting their value of service to others.

The endowment adds to the philanthropic events that both IFC and NPC host in the Greencastle community. All member fraternities and sororities have strong beliefs in the importance of philanthropy and service and the endowment will be a tangible confirmation of that commitment.
