Purpose of Fund

The purpose of the endowment is to benefit of animals in Putnam County. It provides an annual grant to the Putnam County Library to support acquisitions that provide information on the benefits (health, animal, and environmental) of vegan/vegetarian diets. It also provides an annual grant to the Humane Society for animal welfare and humane education programming.

History of Fund

The Endowment was established in 2002 with a gift of $10,000 from Ms. Wright who was a life-long animal lover, and vegan. Jewel was a very private person. She gave permission for her photo to be used in publicity about her endowment, but she did not wish to have any other information about her publicized.
