The Community Foundation has been called an "Agile Servant" because it serves the community in so many different ways. One of the ways it enriches life and strengthens community in Putnam County is through its investment program.

The Community Foundation ensures the best investment management and oversight possible, earning in the top 10% of all balanced funds listed during 2003 and 2004. Balanced funds minimize risk and maximize investment returns.

The Community Foundation owes its phenomenal success to several factors: First, a disciplined investment strategy. You have heard it said before, but it always bears repeating: The best predictor of long-term investment success is strategic asset allocation and diversification. Remaining true to an asset allocation policy requires discipline and the ability to put aside emotional decision-making. Chasing yesterday's winner is gambling, not wise investing.

Second, a focus on values and integrity. The Community Foundation values local business and financial entities and supports the community by investing locally whenever possible. The Community Foundation will not knowingly invest with organizations who have engaged in unethical practices.

Last, top notch, independent, unbiased information. The Community Foundation retains the services of Oxford Financial Group, an Indiana-based, independent, fee-only, investment-consulting firm. Oxford provides data, analyses, and information for wise investment decision-making.
