Sharon Evans Central Elementary School Endowment

Sharon C. Evans

Year Founded
2013

Founder
Robert Evans

Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide financial support to Central Elementary School of South Putnam Community School Corporation, Putnam County, Indiana, a public school corporation, or its successor.

History of Fund
Sharon Evans taught at Central Elementary School from the time it opened until her death in May 2012. Her obituary read, “Her students were always her highest priority after her family.” After establishing the Sharon Evans Memorial Endowment for the Museum in 2012, her husband Bob decided that one endowment was not enough and established the Sharon Evans Central Elementary School Endowment which will award an unrestricted grant every year in September, the month of Sharon’s birthday.

Bob was inspired to create the endowment after he noted that an annual Central Elementary Christmas party at the Putnam Inn was lightly attended. He was told that there were many people who could not afford to attend. In 2013, the first year of the award, the Central Elementary Christmas Party at the Putnam Inn was packed. Bob knew that Sharon would have been very, very pleased.
