Ken and Jackie Eitel

Year Founded
2014

Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the Funds shall be to provide unrestricted financial support to the programs and purposes of the Putnam County Community Foundation, Putnam County, Indiana.

History of Fund

Ken and Jackie decided to create an unrestricted endowment supporting the Foundation’s Community Grants Programs because they saw an opportunity to maximize their long-term impact in Putnam County. ¬†They were excited to form this fund and become Silver Anniversary League members. With both the Lilly GIFT VI and the Community Foundation’s matching programs, they were able to create an endowment that will support philanthropic projects in all areas of the county both now and forever.¬† “It will increase the funding available to organizations seeking grants that benefit the community”.

Ken is life-long resident of Greencastle. He graduated from Greencastle High school and later went back to school at Indiana Wesleyan University to earn his MSM in 2004. Ken, in partnership with his wife Jackie, was the 4th generation to operate Eitel’s Flowers and Gifts for 35 years until they sold the business in 2011. Ken was an adjunct business instructor for Ivy Tech Community College-Wabash Valley and Director of the Ivy Tech Business and Entrepreneurial Service Center in Greencastle until December 2013. He later worked as a consultant for businesses just starting out as well as those trying to grow. An advocate for civic leadership he has been an active member and supporter of community organizations and progress through citizen engagement. Ken is currently serving as Vice President on the Putnam County Community Foundation Board as well as being involved with 100+ Men Who Care.

Jackie Eitel is also a lifelong resident of Greencastle. She received her bachelors in nursing at Wishard Memorial School of Nursing and a Masters in Nursing Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. She was employed by Putnam County Hospital as the nurse manager for the Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit, since then she has been working at Indiana Health Information Exchange. She has served as a member of the Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives and was on the state program committee for that organization. Ken and Jackie were married in 1979 and are members of Greencastle Christian Church and serve in several ministries there.
