Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the endowment shall be to inspire pride and enthusiasm for the GHS Band. Income from the fund shall be used for hardware needs of the Greencastle High School Band program, such as repair and replacement of instruments, and purchase of music, music stands, and uniforms. Trips and transportation expenses are not eligible uses of fund income. Greencastle High School Band is a program of the Greencastle Community School Corporation, a public school system.
History of Fund
In the fall of 2009, Marjorie Secrest, a parent of five, including a set of quadruplets, was concerned by the lack of musical offerings available to students attending Greencastle High School (GHS). With support from GHS Principal, Randall Corn, and Superintendent, Robert Green, Secrest established the Greencastle Band Endowment and began developing a plan to raise money for the fund. She also applied for and received an Endowment Builder grant from the Putnam County Community Foundation that matched contributions to the Endowment 50 cents on the dollar.
