Boone Hutcheson Cemetery Endowment

Year Founded

Boone Hutcheson Cemetery Board of Directors

Purpose of Fund
This endowment was created to support the charitable activities of the historic Boone Hutcheson Cemetery.

History of Fund
The Boone Hutcheson Cemetery has gravesites dating back to 1812, more than a decade before Putnam County was even organized.¬†According to an article in the Banner Graphic, “Besides the Boones, Hutchesons, and Risslers, some of the older names in the Boone Hutcheson Cemetery include Halls, McIntoshes, Smiths, Chadwicks, Chews, Lewis, Olivers, Roberts, Rogers, Strobes, Sutherlins, and many others.”¬† The Board of Directors of the Cemetery established the Endowment to ensure its long-term care and preservation. Initial contributions to the Endowment were made in memory of Betty Jane France Aker.
